What About…We Work Together?

Podcast Series: What About…

Format: Unscripted interview

Frequency: Two new episodes are released every week—a celebrity on Tuesday and an expert on Thursday

With an established relational exchange after years of writing together, Danny Nucci and Jason M. Burns bring a laid back conversational approach to their interviews. Whether they’re talking with an Oscar winner or a Darwin Day geneticist, the pair makes everyone who visits the podcast feel at ease, which leads to talks that emphasize insight, intimacy, and introspection. And while some of the biggest names in Hollywood, music, and sports have chatted with the duo, the curated topics highlighted on the individual episodes are the true star of What About... From death to acorns—perseverance to dog aging—Danny and Jason seek out and explore subjects that are both topical and inventive, while approaching every single one of them with child-like wonder.

Beginning in May 2024, the What About… podcast will begin producing a third weekly episode called What About: Everyday Expert, where Jason will sit down with people from all walks of life and break down those things that we all wish we were competent enough to do ourselves or that we could do better. From changing your car’s oil to putting in your contacts, the short-form series will release weekly every Wednesday.

In addition to the What About… podcast, Danny and Jason are actively developing a pair of scripted format podcast series, including Group, a weekly show that follows an addiction support group and the ups and downs of its members. Each new episode is the latest meeting with the listener serving as the sixth regular member of the group.

Danny Nucci

Danny Nucci was born in Austria and raised in Italy until the age of seven, when his family briefly relocated to Queens, NY. After moving to Los Angeles, Nucci began a career in front of the camera and starred in a string of blockbuster films. His first big feature break came in 1993 when he starred in Frank Marshall’s Alive, the true story of a group of plane-wrecked survivors stranded in the Andes mountains. He went on to starring roles in Tony Scott’s Crimson Tide (alongside Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman and James Gandolfini), as well as Michael Bay’s thriller The Rock (opposite Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage) and ERASER (with Arnold Schwarzenegger).

Nucci is best known for his lovable and heartbreaking role as Leonardo DiCaprio’s best friend “Fabrizio” in James Cameron’s mega-hit TITANIC. For those who haven’t seen the film, the ship doesn’t make it to New York (too soon?).

In Television, Nucci recurs opposite Miles Teller and Giovanni Ribisi in Paramount+’s limited series THE OFFER, based on the making of the iconic film “The Godfather”, Nucci plays “Congressman Mario Biaggi”. Prior to that, Nucci starred on Freeform’s long-running series The Fosters. He recurred on FOX drama 9-1-1, ABC’s drama The Rookie. Prior Series Leads include ABC’s police drama 10-8, Marc Cherry’s CBS buddy comedy Some of My Best Friends (as the co-lead opposite Jason Bateman), and David E. Kelley’s ABC drama Snoops.

In addition to acting, Nucci is also a musician, currently touring as part of The Jim Irsay Band alongside rock heavyweights Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Mike Mills (founding member of R.E.M.), Kenny Aronoff (Paul McCartney, John Mellencamp, The Rolling Stones), and others.

Jason M. Burns

When not writing in his spiral notebooks, Jason M. Burns can be found outside getting his tattoo-covered arms dirty where he spends the warmer months hybridizing daylilies and tending to his koi pond. Type A even when typing, the former public relations professional made the leap into the comic book industry in 2004 after being approached to write a short story for Dead@17: Rough Cut, Volume 1. Since that time he has written and created a number of critically-acclaimed and commercially successful comic book series and graphic novels, including Jericho: Season 3, which appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers list. He has worked as Editor in Chief for Ape Entertainment where he spearheaded book lines for Sesame Street and the DreamWorks Animation stable of titles and most recently served as Chief Creative Officer for Neymar Jr. Comics, the publishing company of international soccer star Neymar Jr. There his writing was translated across six languages and reached over 40 million people worldwide. In addition to comic books, Burns also works in Hollywood where he has a number of television and film projects in development.

Burns currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife, two children, and a trio of rescue dogs with unnecessarily silly names, Gabriella Von Gooey III, Bark W. Grizwold, and Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
